Federico and Juliet

Giulietta was a lovely little savannah elephant, who happily spent her days walking in nature, sometimes looking for a pool of fresh water and sometimes for pleasure. A feature that distinguished her, however, was that of being an irremediable fear. Whenever she happened to notice a sudden noise, even the smallest one, Giulietta was alarmed, ending up many times for legs without reason. She happened to fall down sitting on the ground if she inadvertently stepped on a twig, or precisely to run away like the wind when a small animal moved among the foliage. Harmless noises that could be heard every day in the life of the savannah, and that did not constitute anything dangerous; but Giulietta had too much, irresistible fear, and when she heard a sudden sound that seemed even minimally threatening to her, she knew in her heart that she had to take shelter, regardless of what it was. But there was a loud and impetuous noise that he adored instead, and it was that of the rain, that large and voluminous rain that caused a great and long downpour, and that only rarely descended into the tropical climate of the savannah. For Giulietta that was the sweetest and most reassuring of sounds, because walking under a cool rain was one of the things she loved most: when it rained all the animals went to hide, and she could instead go out without worrying about anything, and enjoy the refreshing clean water coming down from the sky. When on a night like many others it began to rain heavily in the savannah, Juliet the elephant happily came out into the open, recalled by the falling water. After looking around with a complacent air and having noticed that she was completely alone, she happily ventured along the paths.

The water fell nicely on her head and rump, and produced a relaxing crackling as she fell to the ground. Proceeding carefree on his way, he didn’t care how far she had gotten away from home. Suddenly, however, he began to hear a small, sinister noise behind him, which he could not immediately identify, but which grew stronger and more persistent as Giulietta accelerated the pace with fear. It was a noise for her difficult to understand, which she had never heard and for which she felt it was legitimate to be afraid. Feeling that the sound became more and more a din whenever he moved faster, Giulietta, fearing to be followed, made the decision to turn around abruptly, to see what was behind her. And then something appeared. He was not a big animal, but a small creature; small, yes, but filthy, hideous and with enormous eyes that reflected the lightning that had begun to descend from the sky. Was it possible that this tiny little creature made so much noise? This was what Giulietta wondered, trembling in blue scared, staring at her little pursuer. But when the little monster advanced a couple of steps quickly, the elephant ran off without thinking twice. And the more she escaped, the more that deafening noise chased her again. How to get rid of that mysterious, fast animalaccio that didn’t give her peace? Giulietta tried to sow him in the tall grass, but he didn’t lose a single step; he abruptly changed direction many times, but failed to mislead him; and any other maneuver put in place did not allow it to gain ground.

Exhausted from the effort, he did not notice that he was about to enter a dead end, and suddenly he saw the road blocked by a huge rock. All she had to do was turn around, terrified, to see what that terrible-looking creature wanted from her. The little monster, panting from the long run, got up on two legs and, waving his fists in the air, exclaimed with a very sharp and funny voice: “For the poor! Finally you stopped! “And shaking off the water she added:” Did you by chance make me run across the savannah with this pouring rain? “Giulietta couldn’t believe it. He was running away from a tender and harmless little mouse! “Oh, come on, excuse me, really, mouse! You made me so scared with all the fuss and the wet rain. But why are you chasing me? “Asked Juliet. “It’s simple,” said the little mouse. “I was trying to recover my umbrella, which got caught in your tail as you passed me by.” Giulietta then checked her tail, and saw a large yellow umbrella attached to it just like the mouse said. “Here’s what that noise was! The umbrella that hit the ground! Sorry again little mouse, I never imagined. Here, take it! ”And returned the umbrella to the mouse, which, drenched in water, immediately slipped under it to find shelter. “Thank you, elephantine. I would have liked to explain it to you before, but you ran away from fear without even understanding what was happening. “” You’re right, little mouse. And I think from this time I’ll be less afraid and I’ll always stop to see what happens. By the way, what’s your name? “” My name is Federico, and I also like to wander the streets to discover new places. Here, perhaps less when it rains. But if you want, I’ll be able to keep you company on all the other days. “” Why not? In two it will be more fun! “And Giulietta returned home with two excellent results: she had learned that one should not always be afraid of sudden noises, and had found a new friend.
